Hello ladies I need your help. I am shaking as I type this because I just had a big scare. My son just turned 10 mos and has two teeth at the bottom. No i dont starve him but Im scared about giving him certain foods because I think he will choke. He just grabbed an orange off of my plate and I think he bit it. I immediatelty tried to stop by puttin my finger down his throat(which I know youre not suppose to do, but it was big) I scared him to death and myself as well. This is not the first time though. The other day I made him eggs but threw them away after 1 bite because I thought he would choke. I also gave him a cookie by gerber. He bit it and chewed it up, but I also took it from him because of fear. I have a problem with eating without drinking because I think Im gonna choke and now Im passing it on to him and I dont want to. The doctor told me his gums are stronger than I think but Im still nervous. Can you tell me things you would make for your child or are making at 10 mos for him. Thanks, it would help me alot.

You need a psychiatrist or you're gonna screw your childs head up. He's not gonna want to eat anything at this rate.
He's not gonna choke. Seek help before he starts to suffer.

I agree that you need to seek out some professional help for your own fear. In addition to depriving him of certain foods, you are scaring your child. I'm no shrink but I would think that you giving him things and then taking them away fearfully would not only pass on the fear of choking that you have, but also other fears that you perhaps have not thought of yet. He may feel you're punishing him by taking the food away. Believe me, his gums really are stronger than you think. My son was chewing up those Gerber Biscuits when he was 6 mos old. They dissolve in their mouths, there is nothing for you to fear there. If the food is cut into small pieces he should be fine. I've also always taken the skins off of hot dogs and fruits, and cut foods like grapes and olives in half. I hope some of this helps. But please seek out some help. Your child shouldn't suffer the effects of this irrational fear. And quite honestly, neither should you. Hope some of this helped!

If you carry on like this you are going to hurt your baby he will pick up on it and think it is normal you need to get help now.
At the age of ten months he should be biting and chewing on things anyway,my little boy was eating a farleys rusk at the age of six months!
