Hi. I think i may be becoming anorexic or almost so. I dont see that much of a problem and i want to keep eating less but my parents took me to the dr now theyre trying to shove food down my throat. i know they want to help but id rather just eat the way I want to!! No one I know understands this, they all lecture me on how I should eat more! if someone has advice on avoiding the lectures or just wants to talk it would be a big help! you're the only others who will understand..

hun, i know how you feel. I posted my anorexic hell on the girl who's thread reads "i want to become anorexic". I am 18 yrs. old, 5"7 and my weight just went from 73 pounds to 58. anorexia ruined my life, and if i can't turn time back, i will try to help others not make the same mistake i did. i am dying , dear. i have a 25% chance of survival. The docs told me i could start eating and eating, yet they don't know if i will make it, and if i do, my life will be riddled with medical problems. my physical appearance? i am yellow, my hair fell out, my teeth are rotting, and i have the bones of a 90 year old. Not to boast or anything, but when i was healthy, people used to tell me i looked exactly like Angelina Jolie! Not anymore.
You say your parents don't understand- they probably don't but there are people who do. You have to talk to someone, preferably a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. hun-YOU DON"T WANT TO END UP LIKE ME. you may say you'll starve and then stop when you want to. There's no such thing. The ed gets a mind of its' own, and you won't be able to stop it. I hope this changes your mind set cuz i am crying as i write this. I wish i could have your life- i'd go down another path. Be strong and stay healthy. Please. If you have any other questions, post them here and i will check and answer everything. I'll be praying for you. And if i get thru this, i will start a campaign to help others in our situation- you are invited to help me!!!!

barbara- I just want to say thank you. Its nice to hear from someone who knows how I feel. lately, ive felt like im fighting a battle against myself and for the first time I have no one to help me. I just feel so torn, you know? Do I stop it now like everyone wants me to or just keep going b/c deep down I really like being thin no matter what? You really helped me to understand what can happen to me. i'll try harder to be healthy. My prayers are with you as well- you need them more than I do. I believe you can overcome it. you seem strong-willed and i admire you.
thanks for talking to me

Hey, my name is Melissa and im 16 and I am really really shy sometimes. I have a boyfriend and I am to shy to express my feelings towards him. My friends always pressure me in to making out with him and I am not like that at all. Well not how they are, they like to have sex and do all that stuff. But I don't mind making out and stuff its just I am really shy and am worried that he will not think I am intrested in him anymore. I have not had that many boyfriends so I am not that experenced. So yeah Im not that sure to have a boyfriend and Im really shy to kiss him or touch him. Im sacred that I will turn him off and he wont like me anymore. And Im so shy to be with him when my parents are in the same room. I no this sounds really gay but I can't take it anymore. We have been going out for 2 weeks and we hardly even hold hands. He is obssesed with me and I have talked to him about how I am really shy and have never really had a real realtionship with anyone and dont want to rune are friendship because he is a good friend of myne. But I don't no how to over come my shyness.

Another problem I have is what my boyfriend told me. I walked in to my room and my friend and him were talking about somthing and it was really bothering me. "I needed to no" My Boyfriend told me I was not gonna understand him and that I would take it the wrong was. I told him that I was sure that I would not take it the wrong way. This is what he said to her. He asked her if she would ever go out with her later on when he is not going out with me...."Ok" I kind of understand what he means by that but this girl is my best friend and it would be weird if they ever went out with eachother. Im just affaried that we will not be friends anymore.

Well is anyone could please give me some advice please add me if you want at [email protected] Thank you. *Melissa*

i have been dealing with eating disorders for30 years. Don't stop eating. I know you think you feel better with nothing in you body ,but you will be really sorry later. I still fill that way. But years with not being able to digest my food because all my enzymes died. Then you really have weight problem because of water gain. It is better to eat balanced than be crazy about what others think

Healthy eatting Plan

Mix up your choices
within each food group
Focus on fruits. Eat a variety of fruits – whether fresh, frozen, canned or dried – rather than fruit juice for most of your fruit choices. For a 2,000 calorie diet, you will need 2 cups of fruit each day (for example, 1 small banana, 1 large orange, and 1/4 cup of dried apricots or peaches).
Vary your veggies. Eat more dark green veggies, such as broccoli, kale, and other dark leafy greens; orange veggies, such as carrots, sweetpotatoes, pumpkin, and winter squash; and beans and peas, such as pinto beans, kidney beans, black beans, garbanzo beans, split peas and lentils.
Get your calcium-rich foods. Get 3 cups of low-fat or fat-free milk – or an equivalent amount of low-fat yogurt and/or low-fat cheese (1 1/2 ounces of cheese equals one cup of milk) – every day. For kids aged 2 to 8, it's 2 cups of milk. If you don't or can't consume milk, choose lactose-free milk products and/or calcium-fortified foods and beverages.
Make half your grains whole. Eat at least 3 ounces of whole-grain cereals, breads, crackers, rice, or pasta every day. One ounce is about 1 slice of bread, 1 cup of breakfast cereal, or 1/2 cup of cooked rice or pasta. Look to see that grains such as wheat, rice, oats, or corn are referred to as 'whole' in the list of ingredients.
Go lean with protein. Choose lean meats and poultry. Bake it, broil it, or grill it. And vary your protein choices – with more fish, beans, peas, nuts and seeds.

Know the limits on fats, salt and sugars. Read the Nutrition Facts label on foods. Look for foods low in saturated fats and trans fats. Chose and prepare foods and beverages with a little salt (sodium) and/or sugars (caloric sweeteners).

What are the most important steps to a healthy diet?
The basic steps to good nutrition come from a diet that:

helps you either lose weight or keeps your BMI in the "healthy" range.

is balanced overall, with foods from all food groups, with lots of delicious fruits, vegetables, whole-grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.

is low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol. Keep total fat intake between 20 to 35 percent of calories, with most fats coming from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, such as fish, nuts, and vegetable oils.

includes a variety of grains daily, especially whole-grains, a good source of fiber.

includes a variety of fruits and vegetables (two cups of fruit and 2 1/2 cups of vegetables per day are recommended for a 2,000 calorie diet).

has a small number of calories from added sugars (like in candy, cookies, and cakes).

has foods prepared with less sodium or salt (aim for no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day, or about one teaspoon of salt per day).

does not include more than one drink per day (two drinks per day for men) if you drink alcoholic beverages.

I know a healthy diet means I should control my fat intake, but I'm confused by all the different kinds of fats in foods! How do I know which ones are ok and which ones to avoid?
There are different kinds of fats in our foods. Some can hurt our health, while others aren't so bad – some are even good for you! Here's what you need to know:

Monounsaturated fats (canola, olive and peanut oils, and avocados) and polyunsaturated fats (safflower, sesame, sunflower seeds, and many other nuts and seeds) don't raise your LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels but can raise your HDL ("good") cholesterol levels. To keep healthy, it is best to choose foods with these fats.

Saturated fat, trans fatty acids, and dietary cholesterol raise your LDL ("bad") blood cholesterol levels, which can lead to heart disease. Saturated fat is found mostly in food from animals, like beef, veal, lamb, pork, lard, poultry fat, butter, cream, whole milk dairy products, cheeses, and from some plants, such as tropical oils. Tropical oils include coconut, palm kernel, and palm oils that are found in commercial cakes, cookies, and salty snack foods. Unlike other plant oils, these oils have a lot of saturated fatty acids. Some processed foods (such as frozen dinners and canned foods) can be quite high in saturated fat — it' s best to check package labels before purchasing these types of foods.

Trans fatty acids (TFAs) are formed during the process of making cooking oils, margarine, and shortening and are in commercially fried foods, baked goods, cookies, and crackers. Some are naturally found in small amounts in some animal products, such as beef, pork, lamb, and the butterfat in butter and milk. In studies, TFAs tend to raise our total blood cholesterol. TFAs also tend to raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol and lower HDL ("good") cholesterol. One study found that the four main sources of trans fatty acids in women's diets come from margarine, meat (beef, pork, or lamb), cookies, and white bread. At this time, TFAs are not listed on nutrition labels, but that will soon change. Although it might take a couple of years to begin seeing it, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now asking food manufacturers to begin labeling TFA content. And some food manufacturers are announcing they are taking TFAs out of their food.
