I just need to hear from other parents than I am doing the right thing at the moment I am so upset. My second daughter is 17(about to be 18 next month) ADHD/LD and has been on and off meds, in and out of counseling etc….. We have made the gamut for most things with her and still there is no peace in my home due to her outburst etc, etc, etc we’ve made her through out her school years take the bad with the good and get through it even with her disabilities. This is her senior year and I know life is hard and is not fair and isn’t changing either, but she is struggling with a class in school ( an athletics class) she lacks only two credits to graduate HS ( will get them by Spring) and is having the worst experience possible with this elective athletics class due to the coach. I am calling the HS to get her out of the class but they refuse saying it is in the middle and she can’t get out until the end of the trimester (we do trimesters instead of semesters here) which is four more weeks. Our life here at home is H*E*L*L due to what is taking place (too much to post) and I just want her out today so life will go on here at my home. Am I wrong for pushing the school to “FIX” it what ever it takes and get her out the class? I told the counselor repeatedly tell the Assist Prin. and let him call me! I am not a problem parent but I can’t take it with this kid and her disabilities that the coach is making worse. I need some encouragement.

Don't give up - your daughter needs you now more than ever. It's your job - not the school's to "fix" things. I have a teen son with ADHD, he, like others is on Concerta and is doing great. Ask for a referral to a psychatrist that specializes in teens with ADHD and get some professional help. If the school situation is so bad, pull your daughter out of the class and have her take another section next trimester.
