Last year a rabbit moved in under my shed. It was obviously unwell and appeared to be suffering from myxomatosis. I took it for granted that the poor thing would die, but it didn't. I kept spotting it every now and again.........looking pretty grotty..........and I put food out for it.

It then disappeared............? dead........

Well, yesterday I went out into my back garden and lo and behold there was a rabbit just by my shed. It scuttled away underneath it...........I wonder if it's the same one..........

Atomic Myxomatosis will kill the animal but not untill they get very lathargic, blind, and malnutritioned. Uaually after signs of sickness they will only live about 12 days.

Yeah, I googled it and sometimes they can recover. I think it said about 15% recover spontaneously.

The rabbit that emerged yesterday looked fairly, but not completely, grotty. I'm really wondering if it's the same one.

Well that would be good if that was the same one! I have never seen them recovering from that infection, unless they are medically treated! Its not only one ailment there are several others that are secondary to the original. The poor little thing! That is a terrible thing to die from.

Me and my family are freaks about animal and insect life. We wont even kill a spider, I will however kill a maskito, tick or fle!

I cant own a reptile that needs to eat other animals to survive such as a snake. My nephew has a 10ft Red Tail Boa, he feeds it large rabbits! Nope not for me cant do it!!!
