emma2, hey girl check www.breedinfo.com. They have all sorts of breeds and their temperments. Most bird dogs have "Soft mouths" I think that alot of hunting dogs need alot of excersice.
Where do you live again??

i know chocolate labs are awsome with kids, although tend to knock toddlers down (with tail, clumsey) and make them mad :)

I have a yellow lab and I will tell you they are the best dogs especially with children Ive had them all my life as my parents used to be breeders. The dog I have right now is just great my daughter and him grew up together and now they are inseperatable

I have had Both Chocolate labs and Yellow labs, Both wonderful dogs! They are very happy and lovable dogs and I have found them to be wonderful with children, They do get excited to be around everyone. And any attempt to pet them get them excited but they will love you forever.

i believe every breed has its certain characteristics. though, i feel as though ANY breed has potential to be kind and loving with children. it really all depends on their background, this is why it is important to understand the breeder's way of raising the pups, and their pedigree. trianing and alot of supervision while the dog is with your kids is the main thing. you also want to teach your children that a dog has feelings; i know some kids tend to get nervous and end up hurting the dog. as long as you get your children and the dog acustomed to eachother, under CONSTANT supervision, any breed you choose will be fine.
