| my background is Maori (Polynesian) and my dad is half yugoslavian...out of my family we have 2 dark, 2 brown and 1 white..i havent lived a racially tense life, so i cant walk in your shoes.(if it has been like that for you) i only assume this as you seem to be sensitive to your boyfriends maybe jokes / taunts. All i can say is if you truly believe that he meant them as being nasty then there is no future for you because you will be with a racist and he will never be able to love his son and will be a danger to the wellbeing of your daughter. If he really did mean it as a light hearted joke i think rather than telling him how you feel maybe just try and see the lighter side of it after all its his baby too so he is saying it with love maybe as an endearment?...i went through my younger years not quite fitting in...couldnt be white...couldnt be a maori..my oldest son is very dark when he was young alot of people who saw him nicknamed him "little blacky".or what a "darky".i never saw that as an insult, because it was said as an endearment. ↑ |
