I need helpful suggestions. My son 18 months does not like to drink or eat. I feel like I am force feeding him. He is 2 to 2 1/2 pounds under the weight graph. Yes we are going to see a specialist, but it will be awhile before we can get in. He is very acitve so our doc has not diagnosised him as failure to thrive. I need to fatten up my little man, help!

My daughter is now 10 and was at one point underweight.
To keep his weight up add extra calories to what he will eat. Such as butter, cream. etc. Tiny amounts of these pack a lot of calories and will help maintain his weight. Hope this helps.

Will your son drink pedisure, it comes in 4 or 5 flavors? It has lots of calories and nutrients in it. I have also used a powder called Duocal (no flavor) to add into my sons food it also has calories and nutrients. You probably would have to get a prescription for the duocal from your sons doctor. Custard style yogerts also have lots of calories ect...Good Luck

We have the same problem our son will be 2 on the 15. he weighs 21 pounds with his cloths on. he is hovering on the line. he was to MANY different doctors, who found nothing, they said if he stays on the chart he does not have to go back but if he falls off again they will have to do more tests

the doctor mentioned olive oil, putting into the food, but i think it might make the food taste bad and we already have enough problems getting him to eat so we have not tried it

Hi, Mikey is 20 months old and weighs 19 pounds and 4 ounces. He is sooooo active he just works those calories I feed him right off :) He is drinking up to 16 ounces of pediasure, and we use our magic bullet to blend his food. He likes shakes, so I encourage him with those. He doesn't like the taste of olive oil, but he does like butter. Eating therapy is actually going well. When I first started doing the massage and stretching I thought how is this going to help, but it does. He does not like crunchy BUT we have worked up to 1 Gerber animal cracker. It takes 15 minutes but it is a necessary step. He is 32 inches long and he is soooo skinny. Thank you all for your advice. Michael is starting to crawl, he is legally blind so he pushes his head on the ground. He is so amazingly unique :) he has his own set of talents like no other family member. He is starting to learn how to sign.
