Hello! I have an assignment to interview a parent that has a child in special education. This is for a college class. My original family has backed out on me and now I'm in a pinch! If anyone would be willing to answer these questions for me i would be greatly appreciative!

Questions:

1. Child's first name and disability (can use a fake name if you like.)

2. How did you learn that your child had a disability? When did this happen?

3. If you were giving advice to a professional who needed to explain to parents that their child has a special need, what would that advice be?

4. What have been the problems/challenges you and your family have faced?

5. How did your other children react and what has been the impact on their lives?

6. What kinds of support have been most helpful to you? (family, support groups, teachers, etc)

7. What have been your experiences with school personnel? What have they done that was most helpful? Most hurtful/harmful?

8. If I were to be your child's teacher next year, what advice would you want to give me so your child has the best possible education?

9. What would you want me to do/not do in terms of interactions with you if I were your child's teacher?

10. What other information would you like me to know about working with special needs children?

Thanks so much!!!
