Hi everyone, i have a 2 month old daughter and have just recieved my first depo shot for birth control. I exclusively breastfeed my daughter, but the shot is making me so tired. i got it about 4 days ago. also, i only have about 10 more pounds to lose from by baby weight(i gained 55 pounds while i was pregnant). Could the shot make me fat again? Any information you ladies have about the shot would be wonderful, thank you in advance

I was first put on ortho tricyclene and it lowered my milk supply significantly, so i had to use something else. the shot is making me so hungry, but im not giving in, i eat healthy meals the way i used to. i havent bled yet at all, with me breastfeeding i may not. im so sorry about your experience and i hope the same thing doesnt happen to me

Not to scare you but the depo makes it difficult to lose weight and it will be a year after the last shot you get before you are able to get pregnant. I have been off and on the depo for years and had a son and gained about the same amount of weight when I was pregnant. I got the depo July of 2005 and I am overweight. my advice excercise as much as you can eat good. consider a different form of Birth control. sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hope this helps. there are other forms of Birth control that are safe to take while breastfeeding.
