we had to take my youngest grandson to A&E on saturday as he could'nt stand when my daughter got him up as his foot was very swollen and bruised we had to wait three hours to be seen only to be then told the x-ray dept was too busy so we had to return again on sundayfor his x-ray only for the consultant to inform us that they can tell nothing from an x-ray on a babies foot as the bones are not developed it jist seemed totally nonsensical to me any thoughts??????

IDIOTS!!! Can he walk on it? What happened to it? Is there a deformity noticeable? Did he get bitten by something, a spider perhaps??

That can not be right. How awful. They have to tell if a baby has a broken bone. I hope you guys find something out. How scary. Are you in the states?

Charla said they can tell at any age on an x-ray. Is there another hospital you can go to. Their bones are developing but they know what to look for.

no in ireland at minute visiting my daughter to finalise my move back there we were told that a babies foot has only muscle and cartelege he's a little better today if there is no improvement by wednesday she will need to see consultant again with a view to having a scan she thinks that he may have caught it in the bars of his cot as he was fine going to bed

he is head of A&E dept they put a stocking bandage on it on saturday then after he examined it on sunday and said if it was no better by wednesday bring him back sarah asked if he should keep the babdage on until then he told us the bandage makes no difference to babies they only give it to make the mums feel better

i know babies bones are not as near developed as ours are, but i don't know why they couldn't do a x-ray...that doesn't make sense, although i'm not a dr.

our hospital is the worse around here. about 2 weeks ago i was so sick to my stomach i couldn't move to take care of my son. my dr.'s office was closed for the day and i had a bottle of pepto-bismol and i didn't know if i could take it or not or anything else i could take over the counter. so i called up to the hospital to page the on-call dr. he never called me back!! i know their busy but i thought that was really crappy.

we have 13HEALTH here....you can ring and ask questions like the one you asked ashley....they can tell you over the phone...its great for times when you are a little worried but not enough to warrant an ambulance call or a 4 hour wait at the hospital...LOL
