Hi everyone, unfortunately for me, i ended up with some horrible stretch marks on my hips and tummy. I keep finding them on my thighs and the back of my legs (couldn't see them while I was pregnant, belly was in the way). How long will it take for them to fade? They are ugly and I'm embarrassed to swim which sux because it's summer here. It's been 10 weeks since I gave birth and they look the same to me.

If they are deep they never really completly fade away.......
the smaller ones will turn whitish over time.......

Some of them are HUGE! They are so deep around my hips and those around my belly are smaller. The ones I got during puberty faded to silver ages ago, so I hope these ones do the same thing

Ive had an arguement with others about this is another forum...
but.... I think its the larger gals who get the worst stretch marks...from what Ive seen anyway. Larger girls tend to get these really deep purple marks, while the skinny girls get them, but they fade really quickly.

Ive got friends that are slim, and I was slim when I had my baby and we never got them. Yet Ive got friends who are bigger ladies and they end up looking like road maps

Oh dear..its going to take more then 10 weeks..try 10 years

There is a bio oil you can rub in to help it. There is also a cream called SOLOSITE it helps aid the healing of scars. I put that on some of my older stretch marks and it seems to be helping

i think its all genetic...chances are if you have em ...your mother had em.
they reckon that asians are least likely to have them....LOL

I weighed about 55kg when i started, and naughty me put on about 20kg! So I did it to myself! I've lost about half the weight now but i think i have bad genes, my mum got really bad stretch marks too. I saw bio oil advertised in the baby magazines, i might try it. I've also seen it at work (pharmacy) and people swear by it for scars, might have to give it a go!

I never had a stretch mark until about 35 weeks and they were only on my tummy.I was 60 kgs to start and went to 85kgs.I lost 15 kgs in the first 4 weeks and I ended up with stretch marks all over my legs and thighs and everywere.

I've just started using tummy butter, only once or twice, it smells funny and is really greasy, let me know if what your using works Leah. Every time I look at myself in the mirror, i feel like a zebra with all these purple stripes!

You'll never completley get rid of them (but then again there must be something! Not a single celeb has a stretch mark!) It's nearly been three years now since i was pregnant with my son and mine have gone to a barely noticeable lighter skin colour.. Now i'm pregnant again i will prob get more! My older sister has a son the same age as my boy and her stretch marks are still bright purple! They are just different with everybody..

They fade naturally, given time, from a purpley red to a silvery white colour.

jaxjos,
give it time....When I had my children I looked like I had blood shot eyes on by chest....The stretch marks were horrible around my breasts...I went from a training brae size to a C cup in 9 months....I also had them down the inside and outside of my legs...I was 120 before I got preg and ended at 165 with my son....The stretchmarks were everywhere....But now 5 years later and 1 child more, they are mostly silver even the deep ones....
dont lose heart....Use lots of lotion every day and keep the weight down and they will disappear.....It worked for me
Good Luck
