who was it that was talking about that migraine medicine they're taking? the one that seems to be working really well? and wasn't there some side effect to it that helps you lose weight? or am i getting two things mixed up? who was it? and what was the med called?

my hubby's cousin was in a really really bad car accident a few years back, and now she gets TERRIBLE migraines, and none of the meds she's tried is working...she never sleeps either cause she's always in such constant pain....i told her i'd ask for her...can anyone tell me?

Yes, I have had the feet tingles on occasion, I take it at night so I sleep through most of it I think. As for the batty...same thing...who can tell the difference??????

oh michelle did you finnally get on it..? good for you..i hope it will work out for you..they worked me up to 200 mg a day..they tend to taper you up to a larger dose with that drug....but hopefully you can stay on a lower dose..

I am going to talk to my Dr. about putting me on that. Right now I am on 100 mg. Imaitrex. The stuff works great IF you catch the migraine at the very first thump. 99% of the time my migraines wake me in the middle of the night and are already full blown. I didn't want to go with something that I have to take every day but I don't think I have a choice : /

Dawn imitrex is an abortive drug..it is designed to take when you feel a migraine coming on..i have that as a back up..i have had to take it twice since taking topamax..which is great compared to taking my abortive drugs 6 days a week...now topamax is a preventative..so you take it everyday and just keeps the migraines away..though every once in while you will have one though severity is much less..lets just sayi have had 2 migraines in two and half months..comeing from 6 migraines a week..and its propably my fault since i forgot to take my pills..lol..i had to go get a granny pill reminder case..

i dunno if this has ANYthing at all to do with migrains. No clue. BUT.....can i tell you....i am positive where i am concerned anyway...and i dont know if this may be true of your friend bmes...or (i cant recall...who does here for sure and who doesnt) BUT.....(lol gettin to the point he he ) when i smoked.....i got headaches. Alot....a whole bunch and sometimes they were just as violent as a mgrain. Since i stopped smoking.....i just.....dont get them.

Once in a while...but...in my case i have tmj....and that will give a person nasty headaches too. But the horrible ones that would wake me up from my sleep....are a thing from the past. Thank...GOD!!!!

Maxi!! I have tmj too! I had surgery for it, about 10 years ago and had the disk removed (which was described as "pulverised") so there isn't one on my left side. It still feels achy esp when the weather is damp.

well..the girl i'm talking about is my hubby's cousin. she was in a massive car accident and broke her neck, and her head was split open....she had this big contraption on her head for a long time....it was this big metal thing that screwed into her head and rested on her shoulders to keep her head from moving around....she had migraines before all this happened. but since the accident, she gets them WAAAAYYYY worse...almost everyday....and her mom gets them pretty bad too....well they both have been on so many different medicationd to try and help them but none have worked very well...she basically just deals with it lets it run its course. but she does EVER sleep...she basically sleeps whenever she gets a chance, whether it's during the day or what...alot of times, she'll plan to come over and everytime..BAM can't go out....got a migraine. and she's just sick of it....so I told her about this topamax and she's going to talk to her doctor about it and see if it's available in Canada.

i don't think it has to do with smoking. i'm pretty sure its from her accident.
