can you get shin splint even if you don't run?

for the last week i've been getting this sharp stabbing pain right on my shin. it comes and goes every 5 to 10 minutes and lasts for about 30 seconds....it's REALLY painful. i get it when i'm walking around and even just sitting. i have no clue why. i don't remember hurting myself or anything....

i googled it, and all i can come up with is shin splints. but i thought that only happens when there's hard/rough impact on the feet/legs....like running.

i'm going bananas here!!!! it's hurts real bad and it's really annoying....and not so good when it all of the sudden comes while i'm carrying Lex up the stairs...lol..

It doesn't 'have' to be from running. You can get shin splints from any use of your legs really.
Walking, swimming, biking, running, jumping, blah blah blah.
It's most common in people who run though.

I got it during soccer season and I feel your pain. It suuuuucks!

Have you tried icing it? Take an ibuprofen and ice your leg before going to bed or any time you get a chance to relax(if that ever happens in the life of a mom)

If it still really hurts then I'd go see a doctor.
Chances are the doctor is going to tell you to ice it and to take an anti-inflammatory anyways so if you can say you've already tried it then perhaps they'll take a closer look instead of brushing it off as nothing.
