Hello working moms! I need some advice.I have been out of the workforce for an extremely long time.....years truthfully.Anyway,Im not too confident on anything I do and am really worried and nervous about entering the working world.Im not interested in fast food jobs because honestly I think it would be too fast paced for me to handle beings I have been without a job for so long. So basically I want to know what kind of job you could recommend I try for just starting out?Babysittings a no-at least not at my house and no fast food or waitressing. I have my GED but thats all and I really dont want to go back to school.So.....if you were new to the working world, where would you turn for a job you think would be easy to handle?I thought about selling things on ebay but I dont know how to do it.When I did work years ago,I cleaned motel rooms but Im alot heavier now and dont know if I could do it anymore.I would probably be too slow and end up fired. I thought about a bank teller but my clothes arent nice enough for that. What do you ladies suggest I do??

Hey,Im a customer service rep at a call center for our local cable company. We get great wages and benefits, plus free cable, highspeed and phone service. We have all different kinds of shifts and the majority of the staff are like you and I.Moms needing to make money! Its a super easy job.To qualify you have to be able to type at least 35 words per min and be friendly to the cust. You even make commission off the new services people order.I had never worked in a call center before now and didnt think it would be for me but hey, your in the airconditioning ,sitting down and talking to different people about all kinds of different thing, adding services, new service or maybe just paying a bill.Anyways, its just a suggestion, good luck!!

What about pet grooming? You could even do that from your home.

Hi Jenna
You could go to few emplymnet agencies. They train you for free. They have computer programs like power piont andeven typing courses. You would need to make an apt with them and as to use their computer training that they have on their system. You mght be able to look up the ones that offer the training & help get you up to speed. I live in the USA .
Oh Since you have worked in mjotel you migth have an in in a Hotel as a recetionest \pr person.
Good luck!!!

Hi Jenna,

I hear where you are coming from. I actually worked in the bank and you do not want to do that. Have you ever thought about working for yourself. You don't need a degree just a great personality and you can wear whatever you want. I am an Independent Beauty Consultant for Color Me Beautiful. I feel like I've found a company in Color Me Beautiful where I can really be successful. As a loan officer with American General my income is great; but I would love to enjoy the flebility of setting my own schedule. With my business, I can work my corporate job until I can financially work my business full time. I love how my business helps me meet new people. My ultimate goal is to work my business full time and have financial freedom. If this sounds like what you are looking for please email me so we can talk.

Have you ever thought of working at Dillard's Department Store. They pay more than most stores. You just have to dress nice and stand there. It was about the easiest job I ever had. You just have to sell clothes. They were good at working with my schedule, while I went back to school and you meet a lot of other moms that work there. However, it did get competitive at times. They start out at $8.00 an hour in NC.

My friend works at the bank two days a week (they trained her) and my sister works at the YMCA in the daycare (she gets to take both of her kids for free).

Hi Jenna, first off, I am 350lbs. I have always worked and I have worked just about everywhere. I have been a transfer driver for dealerships. I have also been an escort driver. They drive those smaller trucks and suv's behind wide load tractor trailers. But it's hard to find companies that only drive local. I have a 21 month old son and I work about 15 hours a week at mcdonalds. My hubby works there too as a manager. I only work over lunch or breakfast for a few hours and he works evenings. I know you don't want fast food but it's really not that bad. dont knock waitressing either because I did it on and off for 20 years and made some really good money and only worked 5-6 hour shifts. I also used to clean houses. but you have to build up a client list for that. I was making $500 a week in 1992 and I only had 2 houses three days a week and 1 large house 1 day a week and charged extra for weekends or when i was asked to come and clean the day before holidays or after holiday clean up. I would also occasionally do new construction cleanup. go in and dust and wipe down and sweep and mop and scrape paint of of windows. That was really easy work. The first thing you have to do is believe in yourself. I only have a high school diploma but I got a job with MCI a few years ago that got me training and experience and then I took that experience and went to work in an insurance call center and was making 32k a year. the best advise i can give you is to stay away from door to door selling like avon or any job where you have to invest money and sell something because it will never make you any money and you have to list and sell ALOT on ebay to make any money. Good luck to you and take care.
