i would say a surperise party what you can do for that is ask her to write a list of who see wants ot come ot her party and invite those peopel on her list and send them invitations butr dont tell your daughter about anything and then have a limo pick your daughter up and bring her to where you \r having the party at w\and when she get sout of the limo and goes inot the room all her friends will be there to say surp\rsie and she will be so happy trust me well good lck and have fun palnning  =

A wonderful thing would be a theme party for her sweet 16th. You could have a formal party and have the guys wear tuxes and the girls could wear their homecoming dresses (again).

Have a 50's car hop party with the grill on and the kids boping to the tunes of the era.

Hey Linda. I don't know if your daughter's birthday has already happened yet, but I was just going to suggest that maybe a date with her mom would be good. I have three girls and they would rather I book a horseback trail ride in the mountains somewhere or take them skiing or fishing just me and them more than anything else. I think showing them how special they are to you by taking time out of your busy schedule to do something totally dedicated to spending time with them is a wonderful gift. I dont' know how many kids you have, but I was one of three and I wish my mom had done some one on one stuff with me more often. If she is a city girl, it may be a nice change of scenery to try something new. What about taking her repelling, or promising to and following through with taking her on a rafting trip this summer? Kids now are so big on limos and bling ect. What about getting back to things that aren't centered so much on monetary value placed in forgettable stuff, but some true "You are special to me and I wanted to take some time with you" birthdays. Hope this helped in some way. Just in case you think I am older, well, I am going to be 26 on Jan. 4. I also have three daughters who I am going to start taking time to go on mini "dates" with them individually. They need to feel special by my taking time with them away from the other two on occasion. If you go over the top with the whole limo thing, ect. She may expect each birthday after that to meet or exceed what her 16th was. Keep it sweet and simple and do a family with a couple close friends at home then whisk her off to a fun filled mom and daughter adventure weekend. Shoot, take her on a scavenger hunt in the woods and have her hunt for her gifts. There are lots of fun ideas to do.. Best Wishes for a fun filled 16th  =

My goddaughter turned 16 in October and we rented a "banquet room" at a rec center (which was only $50.00 - to be returned if the place was cleaned at the end of the party) and rented a KAROKE machine. We invited all her friends and spent the whole day decorating. It was a HUGE surprise when she got there. Simple but fun! BBQ & cake & munchies!! It was lots of fun for everyone actually!!  =

well linda im throwing my sweet 16 next year and have your daughter to recieve the ultimate in pampering. take her to a nice boutique to pick out a dress or if you want a theme fancy dress is the best. but whatever you do make sure you have the limousine with red capret and the snazzy invites. make sure your daughter invites everyone she knows and another thing you might like for the party to go smoothly is a security gaurd at the door and i wish you the best of luck.  =

your daughter should definatley have a sweet sixteen extravaganza. one of my biggest regrets is not doinf enough to celebrate turning 16 becasue it reall is a big deal. now im turning 18 and im going all out. what about a costume party? it may sound a little childish but can be a lot of fun. also, i heard a real original idea im considering for my party. buy a large roll of wallpaper or some kind of plain paper and cover a wall of your party venue. then get guests to write messages for your daughter, it will be something to keep forever!  =

My daughter is also celebrating her sweet 16 this year. To throw them the parties they would like would cost far too much. I do not believe that 16 year olds should be drinking, so the comments made to that effect I do not agree with. We have just moved within the last year and my daughter has made some new friends. I know they have something planned for her birthday. What my plans are is to get together her old friends (and her new ones of course) and have them all meet at her favorite restaurant as a surprise. I can't wait to see her face when she thinks we are only doing dinner and all her friends are there.  =

Rent 2 hotel rooms next to each other,1 for you and 1 for her and some friends. Make sure it has a pool!! Order pizza,soda,snacks etc.Let them bring a CD player and their own music and let them have a ball!! In the morning take them all to breakfast someplace.Your daughter will think thats cool!  =

My advice is plan out your party well...plan your budget and a cute party theme is a hawaiin theme! My daughter loved it very much that she showed her appreciation but buying a card that was specialized and then a bunch of flowers! It was cute!  =

sry but the themes are kind of kiddy coming from a gril who has 4 sisters and all already had their sweet sixteens.... what we did was have 2 time partys which are one during the day and then one a night ... during the day 12:00 - 4:30 we rented a waterslide and had the swimming pool open and we also had a basketball hoop for the guys .... then by 5:00 everybody goes back home to change into semi - formal clothing for the night party - at night a dj comes and we set a big screen that plays music videos -the party was awesome every year  =

for a huge party for your daughter, throw a co-ed party with how many kids you want.You could rent out a big room in a hotel with a dance floor or you could just have it at your house. You could pick a theme for the party , like Las Vegas, Pretty in Pink or a Hawiian Luau. Get a DJ to play all the latest music and to introduce her for her "Grand Entrance".  =

well, I'll be 16 dec.28,2007, and i'm on low,1,500 @ the most birthday money.(including everything)i am planning to have a dj, or if you can afford it, maybe a hot band that she likes. you can also see what she likes the most, and and let her feel like a pricess.cater 2 her a little bit that night. have a theme such as winter wonderland princess. get her a dress of her favorite color, and everyone else where a different color than her that way she stands out. also have a caterer, and maybe 30 minutes before the party ends,have pink and white balloons fall from the cieling. rent aplace for the night,(ahotel) and have a limo pick her up, and drop her off. let her and her friends spend the night in the hotel.(it should have a pool, internet, room service,etc) last, but not least, have caterer cater her favorite finger foods, regular food, drinks and sweets. sorry i don't have much  =

well the only thing is money really. Anyone can throw a really awesome party with just lots of friends. But for me, I am turning 16 and I wanted to rent a hall and have a dance. Is it economical though? Another idea is throw a huge slumber party for her and I mean really huge. Like allow her to invite all her friends - including boys that are her friends (its really annoying when parents doubt you {unless she has some issues}). Buy lots of food, snacks, movies, music. Let everyone sleep everywhere and maybe even let them go to a movie or something. Allow your daughter and her friends to organize any games they want.  =

marissa, i threw a middle eastern birthday party for my husband and all i did was order a lot of middle easter foodz (kabobs, houmus, tabouli salads, etc) and i used bright pink, aqua blue, and orange table clothes. i also added plastic gold coins and lastly, i hired 2 people in craigslist to serve drinks and food and i told them to dress up as belly dancers to go with the theme. it really worked out well. let me know if you need more advice!  =

talk with your daughter about making a list that who are coming to the party! The you have a pool party for birthday and play games that are pretty difficult level! While I understand kids wanting a party, I think parents go way overboard. Sixteen, for whatever reason, is considered a big event...fine. But why on earth do people pay thousands of dollars on a big bash? Guess I'm just too conservative. :)

My daughter is turning 16 in February. She just wants a to hang with friends. I've rented a beach house (rent two nights get the third free). My husband and I will spend the first night there and decorate the place, pick up a cake, etc. Then my mom and I will spend the next two nights with our daughter and three of her friends. We'll cook our own food, paint our own nails, watch movies/play games that everyone brings, hang out in the hot tub and play around at the beach. The main cost will be the house.

My daughter will have memories that will last her a lifetime.....funny conversations held at 3am, walks on the beach with close friends, cute boys at the arcade, the salt water taffy place, trying on goofy clothes at the outlet mall, etc. It's all about sharing it with good friends...not about being the center of attention or who's bringing her a gift. It's about the heart...  =

Im turning 16 in May and I want to have the ultimate party. Im going over the top and I dont care how much it costs. im inviting 100 of my friends, guys and girls, and about 20 family members. Im renting out a hotel ballroom at the hyatt hotel from 6pm-midnight. My color scheme is Pink, Silver and white. Im getting a pink dress (to match my scheme) and Im shopping down town so no one will have the same dress as me. Im also getting my hair and nails done too. Im making my own invitations because I'd rather spend more money of things at the party then spend $100.00+ for something that wont be at the party and people will hardly remember, or even throw away. My inviations will be simple and cute. They will be on white paper, with a pink robbon on top and silver sequence swirling down the edges. As for the hotel: Tables with have white tabel clothes with big elaborate center peices. The center pieces will be glass vases with pink and white tiger lillies and other pretty white flowers. There will be ribbons around the vases and lots of glitter and sequence and It will look gorgeous. Around the center pieces will be silver confetti, silver wrapped herseys kisses and white candels with silver and pink glitter on them. White napkins will be placed on each table, tied with a simple pink ribbon. Disposable cameras will be placed on every table so guests can take pictures. Pink and white streamers will be draped and twisted all over the ballroom ceiling. When the guests arrive, they will have to find thier table. Each table will be named after a different pink flower that I got from a color reel (i.e frosted tulip, french petuina, etc.)After the guests have arrived, I will make my entrance by having white and pink confetti shoot everywhere and balloons drop from a net from the ceiling and I come in. People will applaud and wish me happy sweet 16. After we have arrived the real dancing will begin. We will dance for about an hour and then we will eat dinner. There will be food and deserts served by the hotel catering. It will be a 4 course mean consisting of a soup, salad, entree and dessert. There will also be a bartender that wil serve wine(for the adults) and \*virgin\* cocktails and sodas to the kids. After the dessert is served, an elegant tray of chocolate covered strawberries will be placed on each table. They will be dipped in milk chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate (dyed pink). Before the desserts served they will bring out a small birthday cake made just for me. (since everyone will have a elegant desert anyway, the cake is simply for birthday tradition) Everyone will sing happy birthday and I will blow out the candles! After dinner is over dancing will start again, BUT before anyone gets to dance, the DJ will announce a Father Daughter dance. My dad and I will dance and after the song and dance is over the DJ will announce snowball. Everyone will get in a circle. I will pick my boyfriend to have the first dance with me and then the DJ calls snowball and the 2 of us find new people to dance with (people still waiting in the circle) after 4 or 5 snowballs the DJ calls Everybody snowball! So then people who haven't been picked can dance too. He keeps calling snowball so everyone gets to slow dance with a different guy/girl. After snowball we will dance regular again. We will dance some more, talk, mingle and have fun. Games and Prizes will be given out by the DJ and it will be a blast! At midnight the party will end and I will give hugs, thank you's and say our goodbyes. But that's not it. 10 of my closets friends will stay! A limo will pick us up and drive us to my house. Then we will have a sleepover open gifts and have fun (but there's no need to go into details about that.) It will be an amazing night and I'm so excited for it!  =

rent a church hall or smallroom at a local restraunt if you can afford it have a d.j. if not find some one willing to do it for you invite all her friends make sure there will be adult supervision inside and out and make the rules known ahead of time no smoking drinking drugs. My daughter had a 50's party we sent out cd 's in their cases to look like old records and included some of her favorite songs and some 50's music. If she wouldn't mind invite kids and their families. I hope it is great. Otherwise watch mtv for those crazy sweet 16 parties.  =
