We just got 3 yes THREE corn snakes. Long story, they came in 3 tanks all different sizes. They are beautiful and friendly. One of the tanks is a 20 gallon, where as the other 2 tanks are much smaller. I understand we need to get bigger tanks. Can we keep 2 of them in the same tank? All three as I said are different sizes. I wouldn't want 1 to eat the other so...but seems expensive to have 3 tanks ya know. Any suggestions. Thank you

Does anyone know if dyes from bedding can rub off on the snake? I bought my husband a 2 yr. old juve. for valentines day. He is a dream and will kiss you if you let him. But his underside has a reddish tint to it now. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this.

ok i think ya should let him get a snake, and just keep it in his room, away from you, i would reccoment this good natured snake, . its called a kenyan sand boa. yes it eats mice, but you can just tell your son to feed him, so u dont have to watch. i had a sand boa for many years, and they dont get any bigger than 2 feet. they are great pets, but if you think you couldnt handle having a snake in your house, maybe get a lizard, or another pet, like a ferret or something. why are u frightened of snakes? maybe you should invest in some counseling, to help you overcome your fears of these animals.

heya we just came by getting a snake by acciedent and it is a corn snake, if they are handle regularly they can be very tame. the can be up to 5 feet long a very good snake for beggineers. they eat dead mice called pinkies when they are little. there are lots of good websites on them.

Snakes are easy to look after but as with any pet baught for a child you have to be prepeared for the phase to end and You haveing to look after it.
For a starter snake i personaly reccomend a corn-snake, they have a good temperment and come in a range of colours , and dont get too large. If you choose to geta corn from a hatchling you'll only need a gallon tank untill the snake reaches 12 months then it will have to be replaced by a 3 gallon tank.
your snakes tank should be kept around 75-85f , you should place a heat pad underneath the tank at one side so the snake has a choice where the right temp for it is. You should have two hide holes at each end, one at the hot, the other at the cool. snakes often like to deficate in there water so the water should be changed everyday. as for what to use as substrate i strongly reccomend useing ordinary kitchen towls , cheap and easy to keep clean, st the moment im useing aspen , which is also good but expensive. If you have any further questions send me a email on [email protected] ... oh and you have to be prepared to feed your snake pinkies (baby frozen mice) and larger mice as your snake grows, you usuly keep them in your freezer untill you need them , then u can defrost them. if your son is under 10 i would recomend a corn snake. they dont get very big and in my experience they are generally well tempered. if he is older or if its in your best intrest, ball pythons are about the most calm, dosile snakes you can own. the only thing with them is in a few years they get big. that can get up 10 feet long. keeping snakes are easy. all you need is a heat rock, someplace the snake can hide, and a water source. bedding is good but make sure you feed the snake in a seperate inclosure so it doesnt eat any of the bedding when its swallowing its food.

If you want your son to get snake, make sure he is capable of handling one, reads about them,or know information about them.I love snakes too, but I know I'm only 9 years old.MAKE SURE THE SNAKE IS NOT POISONOUS OR AGRESSIVE!They eat rodents like rats, they live in trees, forests, and maybe in gardens. They can camoflage,so WATCH OUT!!!ALWAYS buy from a pet shop, never, and I repeat never, buy online, many snakes able to be purchased online are highly dangerous!!!!!

i have a corn snake and in my opinion probably the best choice of a pet snake for youre son. cornsnakes.com has a forum and chat to get the info you need on their care. also google cornsnake caresheets. a baby cornsnake needs at least a 10 gallon tank with a very tight lid(locks) and newspaper or aspen as bedding. they should have 1 hide on each side like a small box. they need a water dish. babies eat 1-2 pinkie mice once a week. corn snakes are pretty easy to handle and tame and dont get big at the most 5-6 ft but are usually smaller and not thick bodied.you will need a thermostat heatpad and a digital thermometer and hydrometer to control the temps.85 on the warm side no lower than 70 on the cool side. mist the cage to keep humidity up to 50-60 and when they are shedding like 70 percent. putting a humid hide(a box or container with moistened eco-earth or papertowels)when they start to become pale and have blue eyes means there ready to shed..and read lots of caresheets on the web. petstores dont have very healthy animals so getting one from a local reptile show or breeder online is better. also you should have a reptile vet to have a fecal done on youre snake every 6-12 months and an overall health exam once every year or 2.ball pythons are also good pets but sometimes have trouble eating at times.

heat rocks can burn youre snake so thats a big no.ball pythons dont get 10ft they average around 3-5 ft and the biggest recorded ball python was 6foot. also adult corn snakes need at least a 20 gallon tanks but a 30g breeder tank is reccomended

i have 2 leapord geckos ones a boy an ones a gurl an some reason the boy keeps biting her wat can i do?

Name: Derek (to leann) | Date: Jun 21st, 2006 4:40 PM
i'm sorry that your male leopard gecko keeps on biting the female but it seems to me that he justs wants attention from the female (mating) and the female does not want to mate. so the conclusion is try to find a 10 gallon aquarium and make a habitat for the male and separate them for a couple of weeks. or get another female nad put the new female and the male together and see if they bond. if not i am really sorry because those solutions are the only things i can think of right now

Best of Luck!
