I was really torn on whether or not I wanted to find out, but Blake wanted to know as soon as possible. I figured since I really didn't have strong feelings one way or the other, then why not? What really bothers me though, is the people that are very stuck on the fact that you should never find out beforehand and then they make rude comments when you tell them that you know what you're having.

My step mom married my dad when my son was 3 so this will be her first baby grand child so she is over the top excited and plans to buy everything. I am sure that part of it has to do with the fact that I am trying to save money for when I am not working and I am in school full time so in jan I will only be working part time. My parents are pretty well off and are very giving. Infact we ahve been renting a house form them for the past 2.5 years and since aug they said that if I went back to school full time to finish my BSN then we didn't have to pay rent. Saves us 800.00 per month. I am very very blessed to have them as parents

I didn't intend that to sound mean to any of you though who aren't finding out the sex. Blake just has a couple aunts who've made rude comments about us finding out beforehand. And then they got really pissed off when they heard through the grapevine what we were having. They said when the parents find out beforehand it always ruins the surprise for those people who didn't want to know.

I just feel like it's the parent's decision. It's their baby and they should be able to do what they want. Just my opinion though...

mel that is sad I have never heard of people acting upset by that. Infact most people seem to think that now a days every one knows in advance. People seem shocked that I am not finding out LOL

That's great that your parents are doing all that for you jill. They seem like very loving people. Your kids and new baby are very lucky.

Yeah, I mean, I didn't tell them that we were having a boy because I knew they didn't want to know. I just tried to watch what I said, but then someone else who we had told slipped up and said something to them. So somehow that turned out to be our faults because we found out early.... oh well.

honestly who cares what other people want. Why does it really matter to them if they find out when you have the baby or when it is still in you belly?? It is not like they are going to be there watching it come out. Sometimes people forget that life it just about them. My real mom acted funny about us waiting to be suprised she thinks that it is stupid because we won't know what to buy. The funny thing is they told me that my son was going to be a girl and I didn't find out until after the shower that he was really a he. It was sure more stressful to take back a bunch or dresses then to have never gotten them in the first place so I don't why she was so upset over it. She did get over it though because it is what we the parents want and that is what matters so tell you aunt to get over her self :)

I was really worried that they told us it's a boy but when I actually delivered it would be a girl. We've had lots of extra US though because my doc is a close friend, so she does them whenever we go in just because she can since it's her office/practice and we're friends. I make her check everytime that it's still a boy and she hasn't been mistaken everytime before. Like you said, I just don't want to have to take back all of the cute stuff that we've already bought. We have a ton of unisex stuff though too because we started buying before we were able to find out. My cousin is due 10 days before me and she isn't finding out what she is having. I'm really excited about that though - I can't wait to see what she finally has. I think it's fun when people don't find out beforehand, but it just wasn't for me.

I think I'm leaving the office for the day though. I stayed 13 minutes longer than I originally intended - yay for me! Have a good night all. I'm sure I'll be 'checked out' again at some point tomorrow and be back to chat!
