Speaking in "A Levels"? Doesn't that stand for Advance Levels...I thought that was a General Certificate of Education qualification?? So how do you speak it?
Not saying anything bad about you guys, I'm just curious, I never knew that using slang like that was actually called something other than "slang". But I'm not from the U.K. I'm in the U.S.

yea it stands for advance levels but its not an education certificate its just an extra course you do after gcse's at college. u can do 1, 2 or 3 but you need 3 for uni.

Christina, a G.C.S.E is a General Certificate of Secondary Education.. you get one for each subject you pass at high school. I got 13 cos I took a few a year early opening up availability to do others in my final year.

It's unusal to do that so people generally get between 5-9 G.C.S.E's. They are graded between A and D for a pass.

They used to be called O Levels. A Levels are what you do at college, which in England is the step between high school and university. You can also do apprentiships and National Diplomas at college.

Then you can do your degree following the A Levels, which most people do 2 or 3 or alternatively your HND which is Higher National Diploma....

In australia you go straight from high school to University or Tafe (college) depending on you H.S.C. High School Certificate. You can also take a Stat test if you did not go to school in Australia to see if you qualify for a university place.

In my situation coming from England, I did the GCSE's which enabled me to do 3 A Levels but left that to do a ND in Photography. When in Autralia I did the Stat Test to get into Uni and am doing a degree in Digital Media with a major in Software Engineering.

I agree that kids know a bit too much about sex these days but it goes a bit deeper than that most of the time, alot of these girls come from broken homes and a whole lot of drama...not feeling loved they look for love in all the wrong places. I was 14 when I got pregnant, my family life was terrible! I bounced back and forth between parents because neither one of them wanted me...my mother was a heavy drug addict that I had to babysit all the time and I practically raised my little sister...needless to say I felt pretty low. I met a guy that showed me affection but I was too young to realize is that he only wanted one thing, I was a virgin and it only took that one time and I got pregnant. I never did drugs or messed with alcohol. I decided to keep the baby knowing it would be a rough road but I wanted to be the mother that my mom wasn't...I was very grown up for my age and felt I could do it. I am now 27, happily married and pregnant with my third child. My son is 11 now and we are very close. I just wanted everyone to know that although it is a shame that babies are having babies not all stories end badly....I finished school and I'm very successful in real estate, were doing better than I thought we ever would...I don't ever regret having my son but my advice to others would be to wait, get your education first and find someone that loves you for you...you have all the time in the world to be a parent, enjoy your childhood now...something I was never able to do.
