My mom came to help for a month, then my in-laws came for three weeks. We were so ready to have our house back to ouselves and to get used to being a family and have somewhat of a routine and schedule. This time my in-laws are coming for 2 weeks, then my mom is coming a month later for 2 weeks. We learned our lesson!

wow! Your parents stayed for quite a while. My mother in law is planning on coming sometime to help for a while, but we're not sure when. She wants to be down here, but my brother in law is moving back home from college next week, and she needs to help him.

and since pumping was mentioned...what kind of pump do you have? I just have a manual one because I don't plan on needing to use it too much...but I was trying to pump just to relieve some engorgement the other day and it didn't really seem to be working...at least to save anything out of it

I have a electric one, its a medela( or something like that)

pumping every 3 hours since yesterday evening. ive been getting about 1-2 ounces everytime. i bought my own dual electric but i cant get it to work, so the hospital gave me a manual one, and one to hook up to their electric pump whenever i go in to visit. we're going up there now b.c he may be getting discharged and i have to meet with the breastfeeding consultant to see if we can get him to latch without making my damn nipples want to commit suicide lol..

Last time I rented the medela professional grade pump from the hospital. It was a dual pump but I found that it worked best if I did one breast at a time. I only used it to boost my supply since I always had the baby with me.

speaking of sleep.. i dont know when im gonna .. they tell u to nap when babies napping, but, i have to watch him the first couple weeks when he is sleeping to make sure he isnt spitting up or puking in his sleep. i havent slept more than like 2 hours a night the past few days. im so out of it.

braden likes to scream whenever daddy holds him LOL .. well nto all the time

Why do you have to make sure he doesn't spit-up in his sleep? Do you have a co-sleeper so he can be in the bed with you. If you sleep with him next to you I promise you will hear any weird sounds he makes! I don't think I let myself get into a deep sleep until sophie was around 7 weeks old! Every little sound woke me up!

well the crib is right by the bed, but scott and i are already sharing it and its tiny, def could not fit anything between us. i had a bigger bed but babys crib needed to fit in here, so i got a twin. BLAH fun. let me tell ya haha.. but i put the deluxe sleeper in the crib too so it holds him in place. im just so freaked b.c of all this

I was probably just too impatient with it. It's not like I needed to save the milk, so I gave up on the pump and just expressed it so I felt better. I'll worry about trying to pump when I actually need to...there's a good chance I'll be with her all the time anyway. I just want to know I can pump for someone else to feed her if we want to go out or something...

Coart...I agree with mara -- you'll probably hear any noise he makes... does the sleeper hold him on his side? That would keep him from choking if he does spit up

pumping with help with the nipple soreness too.

I was going to comment on the sleeping- I still havent slept more than 4 hours yet, the first was the worst, since my little guy was in the hospital too, I slept there the whole time so I got no sleep, thats why they sleep as much as you can before.
I think I went a little crazy at the start from lack of sleep, I still fall asleep breast feeding at night

Xavier had some patches of ezema/pimlpes on his face, I went to the doctor and the told me to by this cold cream stuff, it didnt work so I used Aveeno cream, and it went away in a day, it is the best cream ever-just thought I would tell everyone.

I also bresatfeed on my side, lay him down on my bed and breastfeed that way( we have a kingsize bed so we have lots of room)

Morning everyone.

My weekend sucked. Not a whole lot I could do since I had bronchitis. So if I did to much I felt like I was coughing up a lung

Hello--yeah, its raining here--our first reall spring rain!
not sure why thats exciting since my pooch and I got caught in it on our walk and now she smells like an old shoe but still...!

Name: zoey9810 | Date: Apr 23rd, 2007 4:22 PM
i think im going to use the Aveeno Baby wash instead of Johnson and Johnson, i just looks better for the baby, but i got a few bottles of each, so once im done with the j&j then illl use the Aveeno

my dog is such a wuss, he wont go out side if its raining, it just stands on the patio and looks at it! lol
