I will start using strattera this May for my 9 year old daughter but with the feedback of this site, it is more on negative than on the positive side. Now, I am having second thought if I will give this medicine to my daughter. The reason we seek medical help is for her own good but if it will have a lot of side effect and make my daughter miserable, whats the use of this drug will do.

I have been on Strattera for three weeks. I am on 40mg a day. The first week I had horrific side effects. It was awful, but then they went away and I am fine. Although I don't notice any significant ability to organize, I have noticed a huge decrease in racing thoughts that seemed to have caused me anxiety. I no longer fixate on things and I make better decisions because I am less impulsive. People have also noticed my rapid speech has slowed significantly. Overall, I think so far this drug has been amazing. It has showed me that there were things about myself I couldn't control and didn't know existed that were making my life harder.

We just started our 7 years old son on this 14 days ago and he seems very emotional . I dont want him to start 2nd grade feeling like this. Does it get better? When can you tell a difference?

My 9 year old started strattera cause he had bad problems with the stimulants( hallucations). But the doctor started him on low dosages and gradually up the dose. Will keep you posted on the changes.

Beware of Strattera. My son
has ADHD. When we started him
on Strattera at age 5, he started
having seizures. I emailed the
FDA as at that time there was
no warning. He's been off
Strattera now for 7 years and on
Focalin XR. He's still not 100%,
but no seizures. Be careful.
