I taught my chinchilla to go where I tell him to, I pottytrained him, and he likes me to read him books and play games

I was thinking of getting a female chinchilla, but they can be really agressive sometimes. I think I'll get a rat. My sister has a rat and our pets get along well.

Chinchilla's can be really funny sometimes. I took my chinchilla, Zoomberoo (that's his name), into the bathroom and he jumped into the toilet after I flushed. Now he won't go near it.

My chinchilla likes to sit on my computer and sleep on the radio while I write my books. Sometimes he runs around pushing stuff of the desk. Other days he want to play hide and seek.

My mom and I thought of breeding the chinchillas, but we don't have that kind of money to do so. Making the cages is no problem. Bedding we could use newspaper. Yet for dust bath and food, that's a different story.

I have a question I have a chin who had her first babies last night. She is about 2 yrs old. one died b/f we got home but the other was still alive, as i was advised I took the mother and the baby and put them in another cage. Now i have always had males and not females so i did not even know she was going to have babies. She would have nothing to do with the live baby. I tried all night long to keep him alive but was not able. Can anyone tell me if this is common with her first babies? Everything I read says that they take to the babies right away. But she stayed away from him. Anyone else ever had that issue?

Hi everyone... im getting a chinchilla soon, and i wanted to ask a couple of questions which i am unable to find in the internet...

1. Is it ok to make a Plexiglas cage (on top metal cage for air vent)

2. Where i live there are no shops that have chinchilla food or dust, so how am i going to feed it are there any alternatives?

Please help me coz i am worried what to do when it arrives?

Chinchillas are so cute. I don't know why every time I see the name I think of Quesadillas and enchiladas. Not saying I want to eat them, maybe because it is close to lunch time too. LOL.

I have a one year + chin named Dobby and will soon be adopting his brother who was born this year. His name will be Kreacher. My problem is...Dobby does not seem to like the store bought chin food. He picks and chooses tid bits and leaves most of the rest of it. Does anyone know what I can make him and his brother that they will eat? I dry apples and carrots for him and occasionally get apple twigs from a friend. A raisin once in a while and pecans in the shell (after I've cracked it). Help, please.
