Hi, I joined this group because i was diagniosed with Apergus when i was 18. I work in a pre-school and am good with speacial needs. having Aspergus relly prevents me from having sucessful relationships, some of it is part of life and some because of my Aspergus. I try very hard to improve ways i deal with my emotions and to act like "Normal" people do. I can drive, i went to college to do Child Care and re sat my GCSE English and got a B. I am now re-sitting my maths so that i can go into school assistant job for speacial needs. I was recentely dumped by my first boyfriend and have had a very hard time getting over it and being aspergus makes getting over it all the more harder and some off my friendships failed because i have giot so low.

I am looking for some new friends and someone who may understand how scary and unkind the world can be for people like me.

Any body out there know what im going through?

Hello Kristy,
I run a support group in Peterborough Ontario for Adults with Aspergers. Each week we talk about issues that the group members are dealing with, especially relationships. The group has been very helpful for the members. They talk about how nice it is to be around others that understand them and do not judge. Is there such a group where you live?

I have aspergers after awile you start to relize that you don't have disibilities rather assets that most non asd people dont have such as our inability to lie cheat and steal makes us better friends and that coupled with our ability to work alone for long periods of time make us better workers, our ability to see details that most other people would miss make us able to solve problems that otherp people would not even reconize, there are many other benifits that you or your child will find later in life and aspergers is hereditterary so you or your spouse might have it too!

Hi, I work with a 11 year old boy with asbergers and adhd. He is a great kid but really lacks the ability to do things for himself. The problem I need help with is that this boy does not wipe his butt, and is afraid to touch his penis when he goes pee. If anyone has had any experience with this topic I would Love to hear what works, or even what doesn't work. He also has some issues with being afraid to get hands dirty (which is some of the proble)

HI my name is Emily, and i am doing a research project on Aspergers Syndrome. Is there anyone out there who I can e-mail a survey I made for a project I am doing?
It is completely anonymous, but it would be a great learning opportunity for my class.

If anyone sends me an e-mail or gives me theirs it would be a great help!

thank you,

Emily

Hi, I'm new to chat rooms so please forgive me if I mess it up the first few times. My 12 year old son has Aspergers and we have now realised that my husband has it too. My son displays very challenging behaviour at home and is struggling to keep up at school as he appears "not to be bothered" with trying!! I think this is a motivational thing as he can be very obsessed with topics he really wants to learn about. I'm in the process of claiming disability benefit for him as I've been told he is entitled to it but wondered about the implications of classing him as disabled. Will this affect him as an adult? Will it prevent him from applying for jobs, or passing his driving test? Any advice would be appreciated as I don't want to cause him future problems in his adult life by signing this bit of paper classing him as disabled when he is obviously capable of so much.

There is days i really think i can not do it anymore, but then i think god would not have gave me this special child if i could not handle it. My son is 8 years old and we have only had a diagnosis for a year now put we are trying to learn.

Hi there,

I have an Asperger's Syndrome and when some sort of stress is accumulated, I don't know what I do. I broke many computers with tantrum. Looking back my childhood, I had minor autistic spectrum disorder, well it wasn't disorder but it made me tired. I visited doctors but they really don't understand what my mental condition is. They are so theoretical and don't want to know my inner mind. I realized that at the age of 49. and I am now 50 years old.

I am wondering what I can do for the rest of my life.... 10 or 20 years. The worst and disappointment is that people don't understand my mental condition yet.

It sounds as if we need a chatroom for Aspies. Has anyone found one yet?

I am the mom of a 10 year old Asperger's girl. Since January there has been a change in her demeanor. She has become paranoid (at one point accusing me of maybe poisoning her food). She's gotten better (her doctor put her on Zoloft), although, she's still concerned about us checking up on her at night. Her condition is exsacerbated by the fact that her dad travels four days out of the week. So he's constantly coming and going.
Her doctor wants to put her on Risperdal. I am concerned and do not want to. Her doctor says that she's afraid that Harmony may have a psychotic breakdown. I don't think that she will. She seems overall happy. She does well in school, has friends (whom she's constantly on the phone with), eats well, and sleeps well. Am I in denial?
Any input will be appreciated.

I have a daughter with Asperger Syndrome. She is constantly screaming and crying and rolling of the eyes. How do I handle this when she gets like that? She is always saying she is going to hurt herself or whatever. I just feel like crying and locking myself in my room. Does anyone have any advice?

I have a husband who work long hours during the week and at the weekends he finds my sons behaviour stressful as he isnt used to being around he all the time. We cant go out at the weekend as a family even for a quick cup of coffee without it being a complete disaster, everyone stressed and us argueing about his behaviour.
