Hey,whats going on with all these baby boys, being born?I'am having a boy too, were still trying to found a name,WE both like,ha ha!He's not very active at 5months and 2weeks,but had a ultrasound about 2 weeks ago,and he's fine!Anybody experiencing this with there first baby boy?

Name: Chris R | Date: Mar 15th, 2006 11:53 PM
Joyce, my little boy was all over! By the time I got my ultrasound with him at 20 weeks, you could see him kicking! Each baby is different, but it could be too that he's moving over by the placenta, I could never feel him when he was on my left side and that's what the ultrasound tech told me. Just wait, this is a little view into what your baby will be like. Mine kicked all the way through labor too and he never stops moving! I swear that kid is always running or jumping, he's so busy and active.

I have had two son's and both of the heart rates were 150 or under and i am currenlty preg. with a girl and her heart rate is 165.

Joyce, you are sooo lucky to be tall! I'm 5' 2" and have a short torso. Maybe that's why, poor little guy had nowhere to go! I had the same thing at my ultrasound though, when Carson would move over by the placenta, I couldn't feel a thing. In a few more weeks, trust me, your whole belly will be shaking!

Heartrate has absolutely no indication of the babys sex. Its all a myth.

This is very interesting, has anyone ever see this before.

My sister and I did our whole family and it was bang on. Apparantly it says Im having a girl. I heard the heart beat last week and it was 160BPM My doctor was very adamant that determining the sex of a baby with the heartbeat is a wives tale and to not believe it. I know its been right for lots of ppl tho, so its hard not to at times.
But this chart is freaky, have a look. Its unbelievable.

I'm wondering... if my husband and I don't plan on finding out the sex, would it be wise to skip the ultrasound all together. Are ultrasounds really only to determine sex?

Name: Chris R | Date: Apr 5th, 2006 8:54 PM
Bree, the ultrasound is to check on the baby and the development. Just let the tech doing your ultrasound know that you don't want to know the sex of the baby, and tell them before you start. I believe it's routine to do an ultrasound at 20 weeks and it's so cool. They will respect your wishes and keep the gender a mystery. hey may have you look away when they are in that area, but at 20 weeks, it's harder to tell and if you don't know what to look for it shouldn't jump out at you. If you have any ultrasounds later though, make sure you don't watch at the start. My son turned breech and when they did an ultrasound to confirm his position, they were right between his legs and it was very obvious.

Hi this is Valerie I am 10 weeks pregnant with my first child my morning sickness is so bad that I can't even brush my teeth in the morning someone please help!! Taking all advice

Name: Chris R | Date: Apr 9th, 2006 3:27 PM
VAlerie, I felt the same way, I think the sweetness of the toothpaste set it off for me too as did everything! I used travel sickness bracelets (Sea Bands) they should be in a pharmacy with the other motion sickness meds. Completly safe and it helped me alot. I was still sick, but it reduced the naseau quite a bit. Also don't let your tummy get empty try eating soda crakers, Ithink that's all I ate my first trimester. Someone else was talking about suckers you can get at Motherhood MAternity store or even online and they swear that works too. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi! Just was going to suggest you ask your doctor about Unisom for morning sickness! My friend had terrible morning sickness and her doctor told her to take Unisom, which is an over-the-counter sleeping aid. She has not been sick at all since she started taking it, (one every night before going to sleep)! It worked miracles!

*Please, please* ask your doctor before using this or any other medication!!! In case it could harm the baby in certain situations!

(She also tried the seabands and they didn't do a thing for her!)

i was wondering if anyone knows if it's normal for the baby's heartbeat to drop in between check ups. When I went in for an early ultra sound (b/c I miscarried las year) the heart rate was 160. Now today I went for my 12 week visit and it was 148. Is this normal? And I also said I must be having a girl bc people have told me about the fast vs slow gender prediction

Name: Irene | Date: May 11th, 2006 11:55 AM
All our 3 boys heart beat was in 140's, now we are expecting our 4th son yet his heart rate is 158 so i really heart beat rate has nothing to do with determining the gender of babies!
P.S conrats to all mothers expecting!

i am 17 week s pregnant ..... the heart rate was 142 !!!! i been told it was a girl.....but i'm not sure i've had signs of both boy and girl .....the whole morning sickness thing i had the first two months.....and i carry high 1111 but then i heard headaches is a boy ..... i find out exactly may 30 .... what yall think .....

Name: wafa | Date: May 15th, 2006 5:14 PM
i am about 20 weeks pregnant as well.... i dnt think tht the beat beat plays any role what so ever in the sex of the baby.... my reason for this is beacuse when i was 7-13 weeks pregant the heart beart was about 167... at 17 weeks it was 143.. and now at 20 wks were at 150's ... there are sometimes i can feel the babys heart beat by just placing my hand over my stomach!! so forgt about the heartbeat myths...

My son's heart beat was 178 bpm during the later part of my pregnancy with him.

my friends baby

hi i had a boy and his heart rate at 12 weeks was 160 and slowly got lower and lower as he aged and than during his last 2 weeks in my tummy it stayed strong at 130-131 bpm and stayed that way all through my labour. he is now a healthy 10lbs baby boy and very active. I read somewhere that the heartrate gets lower as they get older and that would seem to be true because our adult heart beats are like 80-90 so the smaller and younger the fater the heart rate and the larger and older the slower and also when they move and are active just like our heart rates it goes up so it really has nothing to do with sex and more to do with common sense think about it.

Name: kellie | Date: May 22nd, 2006 8:09 PM
sorry its me again also I read that when they are 2 weeks born that a healthy heart rate is between 100-120 bpm so see it gets slower and slower as they age and than one day they will be adults and it will be in the 90 or 80's. But I know it is fun to guess and think that sex plays a part but it doesn't my doctor as well as many others told me that sex has nothing to do with is and as lon as the heart rate is between 160-120 baseline thats whent he baby is at rest ( it goes higher when they move fast) than you have nothing to worry about and the baby is healthy. I know all this because I read TONSSSSSSSSSSS!

My son is now 8 months old his heartrate started in the 170s and eventually went to the 160s and stayed there. a few of my friends also have babies around this age and one friend had a girl her heartrate was in the 140s so basically i think it all depends on you. everyone is different. so don't give up hope. My doctor told me another way to tell is there is a line with a boy the line goes all the way ap your stomach vertically to your chest and with a girl it only goes to your belly button I hope my info has helped

Name: Petrona | Date: Jul 28th, 2006 4:49 PM
I did. My last son's heartrate was consistently over 140 bpm, usually in the 150 to 162 range. So I'm definitely not a believer in that myth. My girls were consistently under 140 bpm btw, so that just threw that old wives tale out the window for me.

Oops, very old thread. I hate that. Oh well, just proves that heartrate truly has nothing to do with the sex of a baby.

Name: hcousino | Date: Jul 28th, 2006 5:47 PM
my mom and cousin both had 2 girls and 1 boy and they both said that the boy's heartbeats were slower than the girls.
