if the kids cant come over because of the dogs behavor and is a danger to kids then let it go but if it is the parents afraid of the breed or build of the dog then i would try to get them to meet the dog and see if they could like him and not be just be afraid of a breed name or look

m.anne,

Is there a room you can put your dog up at? if not maybe invite your kids friends over for sandwhiches or ice cream and teach them about the dog so they will feel comfortable enough to come over and play with your kids..but make sure you be firm to them and let them know that dont pet the dog unless an adult is around . The dog can smell fear and that makes them uncomfortable. I have a pit bull and when somone comes over that feels uncomfortable I put her outside or in the utility room and she knows the deal. If that is not succesful then find a loving home because your kids feelings are the most important if you had to make a choice between your pet or your child.

hell no you should not. pit bull's behavior is based on how they are raised. i know this because i have three and children in and out of my house. i raised mine to be big babies. they love taking naps with the kids everyday. pit bull's are really smart dogs and protective over their owners. if they are raised right there is no need to be afraid of them.

Think of this... Do you really want your child around those type of narrow minded people??? If you love your dog like you say you do he should be without a question of doubt a part of your family and should stay that way, I have a 5 yr old and he is just starting to meet new kids and I know because I have 2 girls that later on that might be a problem but if I try and introduce them making the parents more comfortable they might get used to it if not there are plenty of kids your child can hang around, dont get rid of your dog just to satisfy the people that know NOTHING about this breed so that your child can have a few play sessions. Take him to the park. Hope this help and you make the right choice. :)

I know exactly what you are going through, I have three pitbulls who think they are lap dogs. Everyone says they are unpredictable maneaters. My belief is any animal unpredictable. The biggest problem with dog attacks is the parents of the kids that get attacked. Parents who don't show they're kids how to respect animals, or people. Dogs are terrritorial, and protective of the ones they love. It's not just pits that attack, I read in the paper not long ago about a kid that got attacked by a lab. The kid's friend later admitted they treaspassed and were teasing the chained dog with a stick. I trust my dogs with my 6 wk old daughter. So unless your dog shows aggression toward other children, keep him! Invite people over to meet him, or take him to a neutral area like a park to get accainted with the fearful. They will see what wonderful dogs they are!

I am looking for a pitbull to buy at $50 to$200.

Name: gina | Date: Sep 17th, 2008 9:43 PM
NO! Dont let him go if you do he could end up like 80% of them do....DEAD! Talk to the parents and ask if they will come and meet him. After they meet him ask if they will let their child meet him. After they see he wouldnt hurt a fly they will let the kids play.

Depends on your dog.My pitt lets my chidren dress her in baby cothes and lay on her but she is femae.Males are more aggressive.Depends on how much respect the dog has for you.Fix it.
