don't get rid of your dog because of one reason. If the children are scared that bad of the dog show them that it is a good dog.

Hi Im totally understanding! I have two pitbulls. Two females one is 4yrs. and the other is 1yr I deal with tons of negativity on a daily basis and it is really difficult. We have to educate people on this breed. I loves my girls and they have so much love to give. I have had no problems from my 4yr old but I am so upset tonight because my 1yr old bit someone tonight and I don't know what to do. It was a bad situation, maybe I should explain and you can tell me what you think . A man comes to the gate with a large stuffed animal rottweiler barks for it and moves it around with a little girl next to him she screams my dog barks runs to the fence barks at the man, he puts the stuffed dog away, comes into the backyard man growls at my dog she nips his flip flop, man growls at my dog little girl screams my dog runs by and bites little girls leg and keeps running and comes to me I don't know what caused all of this I was in the yard around the corner and grabbed her as soon as I could but It was a quick nip and that was it so weird and a first I don't know what to think! This really has me scared I've not seen this from her before. She's been so sweet and loving. I spend lots of time training and working with her what should I do? Do I get rid of her I don't have any children and she will surely never be around them ever again just for the chance she might bite a child again but I am so shaken any animal I have raised and trained would bite. Why are some person agressive? My other one is not.

I have a pit bull/bull mastiff puppy and she bites my ankles and feet all the time. Even if I give her a stick she still bites my ankles. I think she is too aggressive. Is this normal? Today she bit my foot and it bled. Help! She is 8wks old, will this stop soon?

To Leslie .. no do not get rid of her because of this 1 incident. first of all was this man a stranger & if so what was he thinking going INTO your yard? while not typically people aggressive it is in thier makeup to be territorial.
Secondly you say that you don't have kids, that leads me to believe that your dogs are not used to hearing the shrill screams of little girls. this could very well have made her nervous. and in her attempt to "figure out" the source /reason for the sound she nipped (as you say) the little girl. if your dog was being truly aggressive the girl would probably be dead & the man definitly seriously injured.
My suggestion is to get her more associated with humans other than yourself & immidiate friends, also watch her around children because she can interpret the sudden & fast motions as a challenge or invitation to play, (and we ALL know how enthusiastic Pits are about playtime).
as she gets older she will calm down too. so patience & perseverance . good luck to you

heck no! ok here is exactly what you should say to a pit hater, is
deaths accuring yearly by:
ciggerets: (i dont know the number)
car wrecks (dont know the number)
alcohol and drugs (dont know the number)
pit bulls: 3 (that is a fact)
which one would you ban?
i like that saying and i cant find it right off so i can tell u the accurite other numbers, hope this helps. also it needs to be kept in mind that pit bulls can be bread for certain resons, such as hunting and show and fmily. then there are the losers who breed for MEAN pits, they need to be locked up and they give pits the bad rep! hope this helps

please help my question is. we just had our bull dogs ears cropped, he is 3 months old.. after the surgery the vet called and said he stopped breathing thereafter, he was put in the after care cage, the girl said she was only gone about a minute. we ran there a found the dog unconsious. it took about 40 minuts to bring him out of it, we thought it was over then.. however he now is wining and crying and his temp at the vet after surgery was @ 96 degrees.. we r thinking they gave to much anaestetic. could this be true,, thank you donna. email is [email protected]

I have 2 lovely pitts....Bacardi and Radar lol....They are very friendly and actually no where near agressive...It's the way they are raised. Mine are indoor doggies...well they are older now Radar I have had him for 3 yrs and Bacardi almost 2. The only thing they do...is act very VERY hyper! They love to run so when i take them out its like watching a race or something. they go up to anyone adn everyone and wag there tails and attack em' with kisses...and slober lol. I say If your dog is a threat then you may need to do something about it. but if its like mine...i wouldnt get rid of em' for anyone...unless they were a threat to my family.

hell no.the only reason that he scares everyone is because he dominating everyone. he thinks that his house. every time friends come over he telling himself he dont want them here so he barks are bite.all you do is to show him whos the leader and dominate him befor it gets out of control

Are you kids your pride and joy or is the dog? Is your dog disaplended? Does your dog listen to commands? U should keep your dog. Its not the dogs fault that he was born the breed he was.

i dont know what to think, but people that are afraid of pitbulls have every right to be they can turn agressive at the drop of a hat,as can any dog ive read in the paper of a golden attacking a child.its all on how there raised just like a child if you teach your child to thats its ok to hit then they will.thats how i look at it but pitbulls are very intimidating i always ask if it bites because of the rep that they have been given.it is not there fault i have seen many good natured pits because they are in a good home,if your pit has never shown agreesion i would keep him they canget very attached to you that would be hard on the little guy.i would really think on it because once hes gone thats it.good luck.

1st is the dog aggressive at all? an if not then why don't you invite the parents an the kids over for a play date so they can see that its just another dog.
